About PAN
1What is PAN?
PAN is a ten-digit number used by the Income Tax Department to identify taxpayers and transactions. It becomes imperative that accounts be linked in the name of the PAN when there are multiple accounts in the name of the PAN observer.
2Why does it matter?
PAN is what the government requires you to possess before you can undertake several activities that include record keeping for taxes, banking, and high-value transactions. In most situations, businesses are required to have it before any other process.
3What is it actually for?
It links financial activity to the correct taxpayer record. Since the application details have to match your other documents, please include all supporting details on your application.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked most, answered in plain words. If yours is not here, just ask us.
A: No. The entire process is handled online. You will not need to visit any office in person.
A: Yes. A written scope and price are provided before any work begins, so there are no unexpected charges.
A: Yes. Corrections, address changes and reprints of an existing PAN are all supported as part of the service.
PAN, and only PAN. That means getting the number for you in the first place, and also the fixes that come later. Correcting a name or a date of birth, changing an address, or getting a fresh card when yours is lost. We do not take work outside this.
Tell us the problem in your own words and we will tell you what applies. Many people ask for a new PAN when what they actually need is a correction to the one they already have. That first call costs you nothing, and we will say so if you do not need us.
Our written price covers our fee for the work we agreed to do. There are no success fees, no charge per paper, and no charge for follow up calls. If the work really does change, we tell you the new price before we do any of it.
No. Everything is done online. You upload photos or scans, verify by OTP where that is needed, and get your e-PAN by email. Original papers are only needed in the rare cases where a government office asks for them.
Anyone who earns enough to pay tax or files a tax return. Also every company, LLP, firm, trust and society, in its own name. You need it to open a bank account and for most large money transactions. If the form is clean, the e-PAN usually comes in three to seven working days, and the printed card follows by post.
Yes. The e-PAN is a signed PDF from the Income Tax Department, and it counts as proof of your PAN everywhere the card does. Banks, registrars and government websites all take it. The printed card is just easier to carry.
Yes, by asking for a correction rather than a new PAN. Your number stays the same and you get a fresh card. You will need proof of the correct detail, such as a marriage certificate, a gazette notice, or a corrected birth or school certificate. Do not apply for a second PAN instead. Holding two can bring a penalty.
No. One person or business may hold only one PAN. Holding two can bring a penalty under the law. People usually end up with two by applying again instead of asking for a correction. If you find you have two, you must give one back. Ignoring it is not safe.
Yes. A reprint gives you a new card for the PAN you already have. The number does not change, and you are not applying again from the start. You need the PAN number itself. A copy of the old card helps but is not a must. If some details also need fixing, both can be done together.
Your PAN can stop working. While it is not working, you cannot file a return, you do not get refunds, and more tax is cut from your income than usual. It is not cancelled, and it starts working again once the link goes through.
Almost always because something does not match. A name spelt differently from the Aadhaar. A date of birth copied wrongly from a school certificate. After that, the common reasons are an unsigned form, a signature outside the box, a photo that does not meet the rules, and address proof in someone else's name. We check all of that before we file. If a question does come, we write and send the answer in time.
